How to sign a PDF online for free
Someone emails you a form and you need it back signed today. Printing it, signing it, scanning it back in, and hoping the scan isn't crooked is the old way. If all you need is your signature visibly on the page, you can do the whole thing in a browser tab instead.
Step by step
- Open Sign PDF and add your file, every page renders as a thumbnail so you can pick which one gets signed.
- Click the page you want to sign.
- Under "Your signature," either draw it with your mouse, trackpad or finger, or switch to type and enter your name in a cursive font.
- Choose a corner or edge position and adjust the width so it fits naturally.
- Click "Sign PDF" to download the signed file.
A few practical tips
- Draw mode looks more like a real signature. Type mode is faster and perfectly readable, but a mouse-drawn signature (or finger-drawn on a touchscreen) has more natural variation.
- This isn't a cryptographically verified e-signature. It stamps an image of your signature onto the page, the same visual result as signing a printout, but without an audit trail or identity verification. Fine for most everyday forms; for contracts that legally require a verified e-signature, you'll need a dedicated e-signature service.
